Community Empowerment
Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime.
Community empowerment is defined as the process of enabling communities to increase control over their lives. Although it sounds very interesting and inspiring, many challenges are associated with it such as lack of skills and lack of confidence.
In Bahar’s community empowerment our goal is to teach the underprivileged communities in Iran practical skills that can help them to become financially independent. Therefore, these communities can break the cycle of poverty, their lifetime welfare dependency, and eventually become stable and can help others.
One of the ongoing projects is collaborating with Karyaar, a social Startup in Iran to teach underprivileged students programming skills and prepare them for software engineering careers.
